Crushing Cans 01/26/2010
We have so many giants bags of cans that we barely have any room left in one side of out garage! That's a good thing and a bad thing. It's a good thing because...... think of how many pounds of cans that could be!!! And it's a bad thing because..... we can't get to our bikes, chalk, paint etc. So our mom decided that each of us (that is Ben, Luke, Mom, and I) will crush 50 cans a day! Together that's 200 cans! To see pics of us crushing cans to to read more about it go to www.cans4water.weebly.com/1/post/2009/10/crushing-cans.html (this is not a link.) I've got to go crush some cans! See ya! ~Michaela for Together We CAN Make a Difference~ Donations 01/23/2010

I'm back! Sorry I haven't blogged in a while! Lots has happened since the last time I blogged. First, our friend, Mrs. Judy arranged a trip for us to meet Mr. Kevin Colvett, a man that actually travels around the world and builds water wells himself!! I learned alot about water wells, like how long it takes to build a well, how much arm strentgh it takes to pump the well, and a bunch of other awesome stuff! It was a great experience! IN THE OFFICE WITH MR. KEVIN AND MRS. JUDY That's all for now! I'll tell you more with my next blog. ~Michaela~ Thank You!!!!! 12/07/2009
These past couple of weeks have been amazing!!!! We have gotten two big donations!!!! One from a very generous home group at another church, and another from the Women's Ministry at our church!!!!! Both of those combined is $1960.00!!!! With donations and cans together we have raised $2800.00!!!! We would just like to send a HUGE thank you to both of you!!!! - Together We CAN Make a Difference We Went to the Recyling Center!!!!!!!!!!!! 10/30/2009
On Thursday morning we loaded up the cans and got on the road. To the recycling center! Luckily our friend let us borrow his truck to bring all the huge bags of cans! When we got there Ben, Luke and I, and this time Gabe, got out of the van hopped into the truck and got workin' on pouring cans into a huge bin! We filled two of these huge bins! I know you wanna know how much, well here's the digits! We had 583lbs. And we raised $226.00!!! All together we have raised $800!!! That's eight shares of a deep water well!!! Yea!! Oops! Plans did not work out last Thursday so we are taking the cans this Thursday! Thursday, October 29th. If you have any cans at all, please bring them to either, Community Church of Hendersonville, or our house. Thanks! -Michaela- P.S. we have so many cans that we are using a U HALL truck!!!!!! The Fall weather is perfect for spending some time outside and crushing cans. Our garage is full of huge garbage bags full of cans that need to be crushed! Luke and my dad are the main people who crush the cans. Crushing the cans is a very messy job and it takes alot of arm strength. Luke with the can crusher In my opinion crushing cans is super nasty! Sometimes I help, but the cans are so sticky! I remember that a few months ago Ben and I spent hours out there crushing bags of cans. It really takes alot of arm strength!! The mountain of cans in our garage! The trip to the recycling center is so exciting!!! Once we get there we Ben, Luke, and I get out of the van and we start pouring cans into bins. The recycling center started giving us HUGE bins for the cans! After we pour them into the bins the recycling center weighs them and gives us money based on how many pounds of cans we get. Thanks for all the cans you guys have saved for us so far. Keep up the good work! -Michaela- I LOVE FALL!!! 09/24/2009
Did you know that Tuesday was the first day of Fall!!!!!! Fall is one of my favorite seasons. I really love to play outside in the Fall because it's not too hot but it's not too cold, the weather is just right! Today I played outside with one of my friends for about two hours. I try not to watch too much TV, but to go outside and play. In the Summer it's very hot, and in the Winter, it's very cold, but in Fall it's just right! My favorite things to do in Fall are, draw with chalk, ride my bike, play violin, and of course, recycle cans!!!! So I hope you have a great fall and enjoy playing outside! -Michaela- "In the Beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Genesis 1:1 This week I... 09/22/2009
This week I was able to be a part of the World Vision Experience. It was a very moving experience. I managed to go through the exhibit fourteen times and went through all of the stories. I would have to say the story that moved me the most was Kombo. My experience really made me think about how lucky I am to live the life I live, to have the things I have, to be healthy, to have things like clean water, heath care, education, food, money. While these kids around the world live on less than two dollars a day. The experience also helped me understand more than I ever knew about the HIV/AIDS crisis, and how it deeply effects the world. I was able to work at the exhibit every day, all day (missing a couple meals over the time). We were able to have a booth in the Local Market Place for our foundation. We had T-shirts for sale, brochures, a guest book, and cards with our information on them. I also became friends with World Vision Tour Staff. We had a great week!!! -Ben- |
